Level 2, Lawful nuetral, positively alligned, diety: St Cuthbert Is it worth it for me to go from scale mail to banded mail? I did this the other day. The banded mail gives a lot more AC but it minimizes dex scores and tings like that... I have a low dex score anyway. Just looking for advice, thanks :)
runestar 01-23-07, 09:55 AM	Go for whichever combination gives you a higher overall AC.:) So if your dex is 13 or lower, I would recommend banded mail. But keep in mind possible drawbacks from the higher ACP and weight.

You state your DEX is low, but not how low.. but let us assume (eeek, i hate to) your DEX gives you no bonus to AC. If your STR is high and most of your skills are not Dex related, this is a very good choice, as the base move is the same for both armors. Even if you derived a +1 from your DEX, this is still a better choice, at a DEX bonus of +2 you have simply exchanged the specifics of where from you are deriving your total AC. Be happy... you now qualify as an M-48 Patton Tank, 2 more steps and you will qualify as an M1A1 Abrams ;)

I have an even lower charisma, I have no bonus X_X looks like someone needs to take the extra turning feat, dont you agree? :D Unlike most players, I'll accept rolling low. Some people reroll for a higher number when they don't get what they want *-,-

Norsesmithy 01-23-07, 11:31 AM	Not like clerics really need dex any ways, and Charisma for them is low priority unless they intend to fight lots of undead before they can afford nightsticks. Clerics only really need wisdom and constitution, they can do the rest with spells. And heavy armour does not ever restrict reflex save bonus, not even mountain plate does.
FrinkiacVII 01-23-07, 03:09 PM	An armor set's "Max dex" stat only affects the max dex that you can apply TO ARMOR CLASS, it does not affect your reflex saves, rolls to hit with ranged weapons, etc. As for having low Charisma, feh, who cares. Any undead you could kill with a turn or two can die just as easily from other, more fun things like combat, the wizard's fireball spell, etc. Besides, "boss" undead, like a Lich or whathaveyou, they're resistant to really GOOD turning anyway, so just Searing Light them , or else use my personal favorite attack, the old "Cure Serious Wounds on the undead for damage" trick (and you only have to hit their touch AC!).
