| Llathos08-19-06, 07:26 PM | What book was the bandoleer in? I'm trying to recall what makes it special... |
| Llathos08-19-06, 07:41 PM | Found it in FRCS.....but still unclear on why anyone would bother... |
| JellyPooga08-19-06, 07:55 PM | mostly i like them because i don't like the idea of my rogue wearing a backpack and having to rumage through it, after taking it off, to find all his (or her) gear. (especially in a fight) I think it (don't know, 'cos haven't seen the FRCS for 'ages') allows you to access your items without provoking AOO (If it doesn't, then it should IMHO) |
| SamiPeikko08-21-06, 04:27 AM | It simply provides you places to put "dagger-sized" objects so that they are easily found. This means weapons and wands can be drawn normally and other objects only take move action to retrieve, as normal. If you didn't have Bandoleer and didn't have Handy Haversack either, those things would be in your backpack or sack, and retrieving them would take at least full round action and provoke AoO. (Bandoleer is also preferable to HH, as it is not sealed shut in antimagic field.) |
| Thelon Fairblade08-25-06, 03:18 PM | I thought a Bandolier conferred the "Quickdraw" feat upon you, for the purposes of throwing weapons at full BAB or Rapid Shot.... |

If it conferred the Quickdraw feat you'd be able to use it on other weapons, too, like your greatsword. But you're restricted to items that will fit in the Bandolier: daggers, darts, and maybe wands. (The Bandolier will let you pull out potions and scrolls as free actions, too, but those aren't weapons.) |
| SamiPeikko08-30-06, 07:02 AM | Bandoleer from Faerun Campaign setting definitely does not confer any ability to faster draw items stored in it. However if you actually had Quickdraw feat, you could draw knives from Bandoleer fast enough to use iterative attacks. I guess it is possible that there exists another different Bandoleer in some other book. It would definitely be much more expensive. |

Shouldn't be that much more expensive. FRCS also has the masterwork potion belt, which makes retrieving a potion a free action, for 60 g.p. The upper limit would be the Quiver of Ehlonna (AKA Efficient Quiver) at 1800 g.p. for a magic item that lets you retrieve stuff as a free action (plus has extradimensional space). Splitting the difference geometrically, I'd guess maybe 300 g.p. (6 times the masterwork bandolier price, 1/6 the Quiver price) for a 12-item bandolier that lets you retrieve items as a free action. |

Potion Belts (both normal for 1gp and the masterwork) only allow user to draw 1 potion per round as a free action. This is much more restricted than the quiver. Potion belt are not magic items. Kind of Bandoleer you are discussing certainly should be. I'd make it modified Efficient quiver with 100 dagger/wand capacity for 1800 gp. |
