Bane weapons... can you have one vs Lycantropes? [Archive] - Wizards Community

08-31-05, 02:19 PM would it be a bane weapon for (Humanoid, Shapechanger)?

I am curious because it wasn't listed in the DMG, and I was wondering if there was a reason for that?

08-31-05, 02:49 PM The Bane weapons are all Types, except for humanoids and outsiders, that are subtyped for humanoid or outsider specific subtypes. (Elves, Airs.

Shapechanger is a sub type that is not restricted to humanoids/outsiders. Instead it cuts across all types. You can be a goblinoid shapechanger, an elvish shapechanger, an Abberation Shapechanger, a Plant Shapechanger, a Fey Shapechanger, or anything else.

This is why they did not list it on the chart.

However, I see Shapechange as being a perfectly acceptable subtype for Bane, if you so desire.

You also might be interested in the magic weapon "Shifter's Sorrow", found in the DMG.
