| ForgottenCode10-30-04, 03:43 PM | I heard somewhere that there's a magical weapon enhancement that ups a barbarian's rage one step. For example, normal to Greater Rage (+6 str,+6 con), or Greater to Mighty (+8 str,+8 con). Does anyone know where this might be listed (I mean which book)? Because I'm planning on playing a barbarian/battle sorcerer/rage mage/doomlord in an upcoming game, and since I'm only taking 1 barbarian level, I could use the bonus. |

Berserker blades (FRCS, though they were altered a bit in Unapproachable East) increase in effectiveness when the wielder is in a rage. According to the UE version, the weapon's enhancement increases by +2 when in a rage. In that same book there is a feat that increases the effectiveness of one's rage, allowing normal rages to grant +6 con and greater rages to grant +8 con (rather than the normal +4 and +6, respectively.) It also grants a bonus vs. poison, though it has no effect on strength. |

I'm planning this character to be a melee machine, with arcane strike, and some boosting spells. Sure, by level 25 he'll only be a 14th level caster, but I don't care about that. Besides, battle sorcerer gives d8 hp, and cleric bab, so he's not that far behind the normal barbarian progression. ksbsnowowl: I'd hate to seem like a newbie, but what does FRCS stand for? I know it's Forgotten Realms something, but I'm not familiar with the abbreviation. |
| ksbsnowowl10-31-04, 10:58 AM | Ah, sorry. Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting; though now that I think about it.....they weren't in the FRCS, they were in Magic of Faerun :embarrass Edit: Yeah, the Berserker Blade in MaF is a listed specific weapon; it is a +1 or +2 bastard sword that increases by +1 when the wielder enters a rage. As already noted, in UE Berserker is a property that can be added to any (melee?) weapon (similar to flaming, bane, etc.), and increases the enhancement by +2. |

There is an item enhancement which allows non-barbarians to rage once per day or adds one to the number of rages usable by a barbarian. Lemme see if I can find the specifics... |
