Two questions on bardic music:

1) In PHB 29 stays "Some bardic music abilities require concentration, which means the bard must take a standard action each round to maintain the ability" and then, under Inspire Courage, "The effect lasts for as long as the ally hears the bard sing and for 5 rounds thereafter". Should the bard concentrate to maintain the effect without "wasting" the extra 5 rounds or may she use her standard action for other purposes?

2) In the Inspire Courage entry I miss the "within 30 feet" limitation of similar bardic music effects. You too?

1) That's up to you. Do you think you'll need it for more than 5 rounds? Or will your additional actions be more useful now?

In general, you're better off not concentrating on it.

2) I don't miss it, since that means your allies just have to be able to hear you. They don't have to bunched up.

This is easy... some uses of Bardic music require concentration.

All those that do say so in their individual descriptions, like Fascinate or Inspire Competence.

Inspire Courage does not require concentration.

So the 5 extra rounds are just useful in case the bard interrupts Inspire Courage by casting a spell or being knocked unconscious or if his allies can not hear the music anymore, right?

Basically the allies that were effected (heard the Bard sing) get an extra 5 rounds of Inspire Courage after the Bard stops singing, the Bard was interrupted from singing or they can no longer hear him sing.

But yes, a bard can fight and keep singing for Inspire Courage at the same time.

In fact, a bard that isn't singing to Inspire Courage while fighting is pretty useless. I tend to keep my bard singing during every fight, and only stop if knocked unconscious, or if the cleric is hurt badly enough to require me to use CLW on her.

OK, Thank everybody. I was already adjudicating it in this way but I am happier if it's RAW.
