But I was wondering how anyone is able to use an instrument, instead of vocals like song, storytelling or poetry, in combat. Since there's no way to get a masterwork version of any of the above methods, you'd need an actual instrument and at least one free hand to operate it. This would mean that in combat, you couldn't get a +2 circumstance bonus on Perform for your Countersong for instance.. I can hardly imagine a Bard playing the drums with one hand, while attacking a monster with his rapier in the order. Leave alone archery.. So the masterwork instrument is only useful to gain money Performing with it? |

IF you are to use an Instrument in combat, you have to give up the fighing personally. Now, there was in one book or other an Instrument knife, I believe... but I'm unsure of the stats for said. |
