My pc's are going to get an encounter with barrels of explosives but now i've got a problem..

What is in the barrel and how much damage does it do and in how much feet and does it explode in touch with the air or when set on fire????? I dont use the guns/grenades used in the phb/dmg..

The barrels should be the size so it can be carried by one goblin.. or the size it can be carried by 2 goblins..

Anyone have any idea's

This might be a good starting point

From d20 Modern:
1 stick of dynamite does 2d6 concussion damage, has a 5ft burst template reflex DC 15.

Ok.. a small barrel, 6d6 damage sub dual damage and a 10ft burst and 15 reflex save half..

They are level six.. and with six of them..

Note, as a general rule, more explosives should increase the area of effect more than it increases the damage done.

Among other things, this prevents abuses later on in the game when people can afford large amounts of relatively cheap materials.

Concussion damage is lethal damage, it would be considered blut for overcoming damage resistance. Thermite and white phosphorus do burning damage and fragmentation grenades do slashing damage.

Hmm i dont want them to die.. but if they mess up they would get badly hurt.. so im keeping

6d6, subdual damage and an blast radius of 20 feet.. if you are caught in the middle of the explosion reflex save DC 15 or been blown away for 30 feet, if you get the reflex save blown away for 15 feet and half damage..

I want them to have fun at the encounter and maybe turn things to theire advantage.. i dont want them to die..
