Hello all. I was wondering if any of you knew where if a chart existed that lists base speeds for each of the size categories(Like the base speed for Medium is 30ft, the base for small is 20 ft, etc). I looked in the 3.5 SRD but couldnt find one. Thanks in advance.

well, there is no base speed chart... for example: a goblin (small) has base speed 30ft. !

it is a common mistake to believe all creatures have speed based on size.

So Im to believe that a Colossal(lets say a Colassal Human, proportionate to a normal human) is to have a base speed of 30ft even though his gait is more than 30ft?(Im not asking this from DnD standpoint, as in the SW RPG most creatures you create yourself. But since there is no SRD or whatever for SW I figured it be better to ask this speed question here.) Darn, no speed chart.... :raincloud

Additionally, the largest monsters (Colossal animated object, Tarrasque, Colossal spider, etc.) often don't have speeds higher than 30', and sometimes their ground speed is actually lower than that of their smaller counterparts.

Darn, no speed chart.... :raincloudI would use other SW monsters as examples then. In any case, larger creatures evidently don't always move faster.

3.5 Monster Manual, page 298, lower right hand side. It's not in the SRD, for some reason. Not Open Game Content, I guess.

That's about as close as you are going to get, and it's the only thing that I know of that is close to what you are looking for.

This is a Colossal Human that's naturally colossal(or instead of human, lets say Humanoid. Thus what if I had a colossal 3PO? Again his gait would be more than 10 m(30 ft).

He doesn't play D&D, so I doubt that a reference to a D&D manual will be very helpful. You're correct though, that's the closest there is to a D&D creature speed chart.

AT-AT Assault, there are no hard and fast rules for creature speeds in D&D (same as in the SW RPG). The MM has a table with 'typical' values, but those depend on more than size alone and are just that: typical. They're not absolutes.

If you want to create a new creature, give it the speed you think it should have. When in doubt, compare to the closest equivalents in the Alien Anthology and or Complete AA.

Who said that a spell was used on said Human? This is a Colossal Human that's naturally colossal(or instead of human, lets say Humanoid. Most people (certainly D&D players) would call that a Giant (although Giants have their own Giant type, they're not humanoids). ;) Giants have their own base speeds, depending on which kind of Giant they are.

To give you an example: aside from Giants, D&D has Titans. Titans are Huge outsiders, that look exactly like humans (aside from their size, obviously). Huge Giants have a base speed of 50 ft, while Titans have a base speed of 60 ft. Both look like humans, aside from their size. Both are Huge. Still, they have different speeds.

The whole 5ft adjustment thing is amusing. A great wyrm force dragon (epic) making a 5ft adjustment? It's just shaking its toenails a little.

I just need it to perfect my droid rules, because obviously you could create a droid that deviates from the norm, but I didnt have a clue as how to account for how much that would cost. So any chart would help. But I'll keep all your comments in mind(Dont currently have the UAA or AA, so I'd have to thumb through those too. Darn this not having sourcebooks dilema). Thanks!

I'm a little confused to how the norms for living beings would apply to technological ones... Threepio is roughly humanoid in shape and size, but decidedly slower than the average human (and can't run). Artoo is Small in size, but can move around on wheels - his speed depends on how fast those wheels can rotate, not on his general size.
