It doesn't seem like it would cost that much as on most weapons it's only at most a 2d6 increase in mundane weapon damage. |

I.E What happens when a Huge creature takes it (same as when a Goliath with Powerfull Build that has drunk a potion of Enlarge Person) Worst case scenario is +4d6 In that case, it look like a +4 weapon enchantment I could see making it +3 in a Power Game, but that is being generous. Now you see why WoTC didn't publish such a thing - it is too expensive for what it does for normal sized characters. |

The worst case scenario there for a +1 bonus with a Huge creature is +2d6 for a heavy spiked shield, or 1d6 for a medium creature plus counting as a +1 bonus to attack and damage. That's the same potential increase for Shillelagh on a Huge size quarterstaff and it's a double weapon. Unless you're actually in a campaign that allows Huge or Large sized characters the potential increase is still limited to 2d6 or the increase of 1d10 to 2d8, the same as with the shields. If we accept that this is fairly broken and overpowered (since bashing itself seems to be), then why not limit it to one size category so we don't take penalties for moving up. It's just recreating the feat Monkeygrip and there are plenty of magic items that act like feats. |

| BinaryProphet07-09-06, 10:55 PM | No, the bashing magic property for shields can definitely be, particularly with Large or bigger size characters. It's also kind of unbalanced by being a cheap way to grab a +1 bonus for the weapon side by adding it to the armor side. |
