Callahan 05-21-05, 05:20 PM	You know I was mulling over the Phoenix down and how it could make the most minute amount of sense in D&D and the only thing that could make sense is a Heal effect that work on anyone below 0hp. It won't work on anyone dead of course but that only makes sense because no one in FF really dies during battle. Otherwise all sorts of tragic deaths in FF would be easily undone by a simple feather. This makes it less functional then a heal potion because it only works on the unconscious but at the same time useful because no one that’s unconscious can take drink.
Jaid 05-21-05, 05:49 PM	it's all FFVIII stuff because he's gearing up for an FFVIII campaign. thus, it makes sense to do those specific things. thus, for example, no Ether or Hi-Ether (FFVIII uses the drawing system and spell points don't exist IIRC). did FFVIII have a tent? i can't remember... anyways, looks good :D sometime, when it's all done, you should put it all in one place and post it :P
Niveus Lynx 05-21-05, 07:45 PM	In response to the Cleric comment... There wont be a Resurrection. The only spells available are the FF ones I made and are making. Clerics, Druids, and Wizards probably wont exist. FFVIII did have a Tent. It did the same thing as the Megalixir...which was...also in FFVIII. They were different in some way though. One was Recovery, and the other was "Stayover". I'll look into it.
Rulebook 05-21-05, 08:27 PM	heh, i have a copy of a freely distributed FF roleplaying game. its pretty sweet actually, but its awkward for most D&D players to get into. But its got all the classes, from Onion Kid to Holy Knight, to General. everything. lol

Also, as this is related to items from a video game converted to D20, it really belongs in the d20 Video Games forum, or the Homebrew World forum. I'm sure there are plenty of rules for a Final Fantasy world. Plenty of reason to move.

I'll check. Where's it at? And I never said anything about asses. In all seriousness, having looked through several of your FF related posts, it really does look like you're making Final Fantasy D20. You're taking things out here and there, adding here and there, it really looks like you're making a homebrew world. Am I incorrect in thinking that's how it seems from the outside?
Jaid 05-23-05, 04:28 PM	it still relates to D&D because, in this thread, he is converting items. whether or not overall he is doing something is irrelevant. because those threads are also in their appropriate places... that is, those having to do with magic are in the magic forum, those for equipment are in equipment, and so on. the Wiz0's do actually look around the forums i'm sure, and being as how the title is quite clear about what it is, i would suspect they feel there is nothing inappropriate about the location of this thread. now then, if you would kindly stop this childish argument so that we can continue on with helping Niveus Lynx with what he is doing, i for one would appreciate that.

I don't remember what the Chocobo did, but the Phoenix either resurrected or healed someone in the party (or all of them), and sometimes did so randomly (as in, without summoning it) in the same way that Odin randomly appeared and insta' killed every enemy before you had to fight it.

Phoenix Pinion summoned the Phoenix, which would restore some HP and revive from KO all party members, and would also pop up randomly after use. Gyshal greens would summon Boko the Chocobo to attack your enemies. Friendship summoned a Moomba to fight.

I pointed out that it belongs on the Video Games board because more people who play d20 games would be able to assist Niveus, because you're more likely to find other players who have experience with Final Fantasy/etc on the appropriate board, which was designed for posts like this. The people over there have experience with conversions. They can help organize these ideas because they know what you're looking for, and have worked with it themselves.
