I apologize if this has been asked before (as I feel it probably has [several {hundred} times])

If you aren't proficient with Martial weapons, and take the feat Exotic Weapon Proficiency (Bastard Sword), can you only wield it one-handed?

Yes, you can wield it either 1-handed or 2-handed, even if you do not possess martial weapon proficiency.:)

Yes, you can wield it in two hands without the attack penalty, because you can wield any one-handed weapon in two hands.

Yes, you can wield it in two hands without the attack penalty, because you can wield any one-handed weapon in two hands. Except perhaps the rapier. You can’t wield a rapier in two hands in order to apply 1½ times your Strength bonus to damage. Some read this as just restricting the ability to boost your STR bonus to damage; others interpret this as the standard basket hilt design preventing you from getting two hands on the grip. The difference matters when it comes to disarm attempts.

For the bastard sword, draconic_swine is entirely correct.
