| Vanulf09-10-07, 05:28 PM | I'm working on an encounter based on the Army of Anubis fight from the movie The Mummy Returns, specifically the "Battle Scythe" the warriors of Anubis wielded (the double headed, fan bladed weapon). I'm tempted to just stat it as an Orc Double Axe and call it a day, but was looking for some input before I do that. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks |

| j3st3r09-10-07, 05:48 PM | http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/sand_gallery/87601.jpg The image is from Sandstorm and the second weapon from the top is called Crescent Scythe. Worth Checking out. |
| AAB09-10-07, 06:07 PM | I'm pretty convinced that the double-crescent thing the OP is talking about is what the text of that weapon describes; the artist just got confused. |
| j3st3r09-10-07, 06:14 PM | Oh, and the same book also has a monster called Marrusault: http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/sand_gallery/87628.jpg Quite fitting for the Army of Anubis don't you think ;) Also jackalwere (or jackal lord) from Fiend Folio is a good canditate. |
| Vanulf09-10-07, 09:57 PM | I already had planned to use the Marrusualt as the jackal warriors. I never bothered to read the description of the cresent scythe since the picture wasn't what I was looking for, but now that I've read it I see what you mean as to the picture being off. The stats are the similar to the Orc Double Axe (good guess on my part). |

Those guys are cool lookin'. Are they PC-able? |
| Dog_O_War09-10-07, 10:32 PM | I don't think the Marusaults are, but the little ones (the little one in the picture), marusneaks (I think; to lazy to go get my book) are. I think they've got a LA though. The third type, Maru-caster-esk-name is also pretty powerful as far as being a PC goes. But I can't give you an exact account on what (of the three) are playable and which aren't. |
| Vanulf09-10-07, 10:55 PM | Marrulurks are a subspeies bred for assassination and are +1 LA Marrusaults are bred to be shock troops and are +2 LA Marrutacts are a magic using subspecies and bred to lead the Marruspawn in general +3 LA. Their favored classes are Rogue, Fighter, and Wizard respectively. |

LAs suck, but they LOOK awesome. |
| AAB09-11-07, 01:55 AM | Okay, I tried to make a monster class for the Marrusault (but it was my first time doing one so it might not be too good). I have a question, though. In the Marrusault's entry in Sandstorm it has Exotic Weapon Proficiency (Great Falchion) and Weapon Focus (Great Falchion) listed as bonus feats (or some other reason; they have a superscript "B"). Why? Okay, here's my attempt at the monster class: Level Hit Dice BAB Fort Ref Will Skill Points Special 1 1d8 +1 +0 +2 +2 (2+int mod)x4 Racial Traits 2 2d8 +2 +1 +3 +3 2 + int mod +2 Con, Ferocity, Discriminating Hearing, Low-Light Vision 3 2d8 +2 +1 +3 +3 ----- +2 Str, +2 Dex, +3 Natural Armor, Weapon Focus (Great Falchion) 4 3d8 +3 +1 +3 +3 2 + int mod +2 Con, Howl of Defiance, Fire Resistance 5 5 3d8 +3 +1 +3 +3 ----- +2 Str, +2 Cha, +4 Natural Armor 6 4d8 +4 +1 +4 +4 2 + int mod +2 Con, Large Size 7 5d8 +5 +1 +4 +4 2 + int mod +2 Str, + 5 Natural Armor 8 6d8 +6/+1 +2 +5 +5 2 + int mod +2 Cha, Pounce Racial Traits: +4 Str, -4 Int +2 Natural Armor Discriminating Hearing Low-Light Vision Exotic Weapon Proficiency (Great Falchion) |

| Salla09-11-07, 02:39 AM | [QUOTE=Salla;13741167] Yeah, but I was mostly asking where the bonus feats came from. They're racial bonus feats, over and above the ones they get with hit dice acquisition. |
| AAB09-11-07, 02:49 AM | Oh, okay. I guess I'll put them into my monster class, then. |
