I'm going to run a battlefield adventure/campaing, where the PCs are on the side of a neutral force (including a lot of races, but mostly humans) being attacked by an evil arcane city-state with access to undead and other horrific creatures. The climax should be the anihilation of the enemy city, but the details are still unfinished. Basically, if you have any cool ideas for encouters, I'd love to hear 'em. Thanks /T |

It is one of the best books for 3.5 in my opinion, especially if you take the information and apply it to more that just battlefields. |

| Amaril11-11-07, 10:09 AM | Around the time that Forge of War came out, I wanted to research the US Civil War for some ideas, and I came across this great book called Raiders of the Civil War (http://www.amazon.com/Raiders-Civil-War-Stories-Actions/dp/1592286194/). It's a collection of stories about attempted strategic raids during the war, how they were executed and whether/why they succeeded or failed. It makes a great source of adventure/mission ideas. From the description: The raids, on land and on water, were early manifestations of guerrilla warfare, carried out to cause maximum disruption to the enemy's railroads and other lines of communication, to rescue prisoners of war, to terrorize civilians and military alike, to rob banks to pay for the war effort, and to kill or capture political leaders. The raiders struck from Florida to the Canadian border and included the famous-and the infamous-men from both sides, like Stuart, Sheridan, Dahlgren, Quantrill, Bloody Bill Andersen, Cushing, and Mosby. In Raiders of the Civil War, authentic accounts of famous escapades are combined with untold stories of rescue and sabotage behind enemy lines. Focusing on a Civil War subject that has rarely been explored, this is an exciting, well-researched look into a little-known side of America's most important conflict. It includes raids on and by railroad lines and waterways, which is great for a campaign set during Eberron's Last War. |
