I am asking this question even though I feel like I already know the answer.

What my question pertains to:
UA's variant sorcerer (Battlesorcerer) allows casting in light armor w/o ASF.
CA's feat Battle Caster allows medium armor to be used w/o ASF.
If my character is proficient w/ all armors (including heavy), and I am wearing Mithiral Full Plate, do I incur the ASF chance or not?

I read the description of Mithiral armors and realize Mithiral Full Plate would be considered medium armor for movement and such, but what about my question above?

Is Mithiral Full Plate considered a "medium" armor for the lack of ASF on a Battlesorcerer w/ the Battle Caster feat?

My gut tells me no. The min/maxer deep down hopes yes.

Thanks in advance!

If you can ignore ASF for casting in Medium Armor you can ignore the ASF from Mithral Full Plate.

It seems that now Mithral will drop the "actual" category of all medium and heavy armors these days. In earlier times there was discussion about Mithral lowering proficiency requirements as well (I vote no to that but this doesn't seem to be a democracy.) but there was never any dispute about features and abilities treating Mithral armors as a category lighter.

They address this in the magic item compendium. Heavy mithral armor counts as medium armor for proficiency and class abilities. I personally would rule that with everything that has been stated I would say that mithral is treated as one category lighter in every way that is to their benefit.
