Would it be unbalancing to make this deal damage to objects too?

I don't think so. Take it out for a test run and see what happens.

hmmm well what would be the consequences of allowing it to damage objects? there's the obvious use as a 3000gp scroll of shatter. 5d6 isn't enough to punch through any substantial walls. a single-use use-activated wonderous item that casts Passwall would work better and be cheaper. so mabye you use it to destroy a pile of uhh...stuff?

I don't see it being unbalanced....pointless and completely cost-ineffective though, definitly.

I mean it's use towards ruining an enemy's gear/destroying it.

It wouldn't be balanced.

5d6 damage is an avg of 17 hp to a max of 30 hp w/no save.

This would most likely destroy all normal longswords in a 10' radius (hardness 10, hp 5) and even magical longswords up to +3 (hardness 16, hp 35) would most likely take damage.
