| Da Dinictus07-29-05, 04:24 PM | Alright, the situation is as follows: I am currently considering a Paladin 5 / Ashworm Dragoon (Sandstorm) 3, and I am also considering combat options and feats. Right now, the rider of the Ashworm is pretty much prepped and ready, but I'm considering feats for the Ashworm mount. I was wondering if it would be possible for the worm to perform a bullrush (and, in doing so, perhaps even an Awesome Blow as per the feat) and during the rush for the rider to deliver a devastating charge attack with his lance at the ready. Is this situation possible, or am I missing something in the rules? Note that the worm is an intelligent Paladin's mount of 6 intelligence, if that is of help. |
| Da Dinictus07-29-05, 04:44 PM | Might as well ask a second question to go here, as well: Light armour barding for said worm, or any animal at all, and what properties can I enchant it with? I'm pretty much trying to beef up the Ashworm's reflex safe as well, seeing it uses the better of its or the rider's safes, and the rider benefits from its innate evading burrowing ability. |

If you charge and attack with a reach weapon, then you stop moving (and the mount doesn't get to attack, unless it also has reach). Most of the time, this is the only way to get the most out of Ride-by Attack anyway (as the mount must attack for a legal charge). |

I'm pretty much trying to beef up the Ashworm's reflex save as well, seeing it uses the better of its or the rider's saves, and the rider benefits from its innate evading burrowing ability. Anything you can get for your own armour, you can put on the barding. The base armour just costs a lot more. Mounts can use the Amulet slot and Cloak slot (Amulet of Mighty Fists +X and Cloak of Resistance +X are most common) and most GMs will also let them use Headband/Helmet, Belt, Footwear (if they have legs) and goggles/eyewear. The GM may ask for you to spend a trick slot on more exotic items, but as a Paladin's mount, that won't be a problem. |

And thanks on the barding, Southern. |
| mvincent08-01-05, 01:17 PM | the mount must attack for a legal chargeNote: I don't believe the mount is required to attack. From the rules (http://www.wizards.com/d20/files/v35/CombatII.rtf) "Attacking on a Charge: After moving, you may make a single melee attack" |
| Pei-Pe08-01-05, 01:23 PM | I'd get Mithral for the material and I think there is an enchantment that makes the armor one class lighter, so you can fit heavy armor with little to no penalty on the mount and maintain the speed. Maybe something that allows you to put the armor on quick, fast and in a hurry. |
