12-04-06, 07:36 PM So... if you were going to kill a dragon from the inside out... how would you do it? What spells, items, or feats would you want inside a dragon? Any level.

Step A.2) Repeat as needed, and hope you don't suffocate.

Some acid resist armor, and some DR wouldn't hurt any. There are feats that do that.

12-04-06, 09:27 PM Not to be difficult, but I don't think Swallow Whole is a standard dragon ability. So what exactly are you fighting?

12-04-06, 09:44 PM A rogue with resistance vs whatever is in the dragons stomach(I can't remeber offhand if its the element or acid) and an Amulet of Adaption and sneak attack until its dead.

Cast an Empowered Stilled "Greater Fireburst" altered to whatever element the dragon is weak against. With Arcane Thesis this is easier than you might think.
Then, Dimension Door out of there and for fark's sake take a bath.

With weapons, there's not much you can do. As jaelis pointed out, stock dragons don't come with swallow whole (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/specialAbilities.htm#swallowWhole), but if you ended up in the stomach of one I'd treat it just like swallow whole. Twenty-five points of damage and you're out, and unless the dragon is already down to low hit points, you won't kill it from within. I'd go with touch spells (and a really high concentration modifier).

You are assuming that he wishes to escape the creature... Killing it from the inside could be more effective with the proper preparation.

as said before, touch spells do quite well, simply because you aren't going to miss touching him.

also its only slashing/piercing items that can cut you out. Other damage types won't make whole in their sides.

As a side note, for a fun thing to do when you are inside another creature allow me to give you this (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=10427302&postcount=185), which was developped after a little debating. It also supplies you with a way of getting inside a foe who won't swallow you.

Nah, it's more fun to drop a delayed blast fireball (also altered to whatever alignment), dimension door out, then taunt the dragon letting him know his time is limited ;)

Hmm, that's true. I never really noticed that you had to be specifically trying to cut your way out. I might houserule that you don't need to be trying to escape, that once you deal a certain amount of damage you get out anyway. Makes dealing with creatures with swallow whole a bit too easy, in my opinion.

12-06-06, 11:08 PM Take a portable hole with you, pin it up at the esophogeal opening to the stomach, and teleport out. Then sit back and watch the dragon gradually starve to death as everything it eats is shunted to a pocket dimension :)

- Dragon: "I keep eating and eating, but I can't seem to feel full!"

5)planeshift back to party
