Which is the best polearm for this purpose. Our party should have a new extry fighter soon and we are in a dungeon. There are a lot of doors w/ guards inside situations and we aren't always sneaky. We don't always get the chance to burst in and take up a position that offers the best opportunities for everyone to attack.

Something with trip ability; a ranseur pops to mind first.

Actually, ranseurs are useful for disarming rather than tripping. Guisarmes are the polearm which can be used to make trip attacks. They can disarm as well. They just don't get a +2 bonus like the ranseur. I believe the guisarme would also be more suitable for the door breaking task since it does slashing damage. Do recall that you will take a -4 to hit enemies who have cover from your meatshield friend though.
