| Tsh7776907-20-06, 11:48 PM | I was wanting to build the best possible non magical heavy (and non-exotic) armor that I could. Now, by heavy armor, I mean that its INITIAL classification before mods has to be "heavy" not hat I want it to stay heavy, quite the opposite. As far as base heavy armors to work with (if you know of any ohters that you think are worth consideration, please let me know) the best ones I could find were... Planar Handbook Sectioned Armor 3,000gp, AC +8, max dex +1, ACP -5, ASF 35%, 60lb I like this for its versaitlity and ability to be stripped down and slept in. Mechanus Gear 1,750gp, AC +10, max dex +0, ACP -10, ASF 50%, move orig 30’ now 15’, 75lb I like this for the +10 AC, and the lighter weight compared to heavy plate. Oriental Adventures Great Armor 1,000gp, AC +7, max dex +2, ACP -5, ASF 40%, 45lb The least expensive and the highest Max Dex (an important issue perhaps). PHB Full Plate 1,500gp, AC +8, max dex +1, ACP -6, ASF 35%, 50lb The default standard. RoS Heavy Plate 2,000gp, AC +9, max dex 0, ACP -8, ASF 45%, 100lb The secondary default standard. Now for the mods... Gassteel (Faerun), DR3/Adamantine and +2 to dex, ACP is better by 4, ASF is -10%, weight is ½, and the category is reduced to medium. 25,000gp. BTW: MITHRAL QUESTION: Since mithral is always masterworked, do you add the additional +1 reduction to ACP? So, Mithral gives a +3 redcution to ACP or a +4 (3 for mithral and one for bieng masterworked)? Ysgardian Heartwire mod stats: Special +2 AC against criticals only, 1,500gp. Susalian Chainweave mod stats: DR3/piercing for heavy armor cost 42,000gp. So would this mean that only an Adamantine Piercing weapon could bypass the DR? I don't have the exact stats in front of me right now but I would also like to make it Dwarvencrafted as per RoS. Primarily fo rthe extra +2 to save. Let me know if I am screwing something up or missing something, especially good base armors. BTW, I am seeming especially interested in that Sectioned Armor from the Planar Handbook. |
