| TeenageHeat06-30-06, 03:43 AM | i know it sounds like a stupid question but which finessable weapon is the best? |
| AkaKageWarrior06-30-06, 04:47 AM | rapier |
| Radijs06-30-06, 05:22 AM | Elven Thinblade. Its practically a greatsword. |
| PoorHobo06-30-06, 05:34 AM | Spiked chain. The elven thinblade does what, 1D8 19-20X2 How can you call that even remotely close to a greatsword? |
| kelvinaw27306-30-06, 07:54 AM | Spiked chain. The elven thinblade does what, 1D8 19-20X2 How can you call that even remotely close to a greatsword? I was unaware that spiked chain was a finessable weapon ... but my money is on a monk with unarmed. You can trip with it, grapple with it and strike with it for quite a bit of damage. |
| babysamurai06-30-06, 08:12 AM | Martial: Rapier Exotic: Elven Courtblade/Spiked Chain |
| babysamurai06-30-06, 08:18 AM | Spiked chain. The elven thinblade does what, 1D8 19-20X2 How can you call that even remotely close to a greatsword? I think the crit range is 18-20. Same with the Courtblade. |
| kjenks06-30-06, 08:24 AM | #1 Spiked Chain #2 Unarmed strike #3 Natural weapon You can use Power Attack with all of them, essentially turning your Dex bonus to damage (with the nifty 2x Power Attack for Spiked Chain). You already know the cheese that is the Spiked Chain. Unarmed strike is nifty because you can use it in iterative attacks: Get your wizard buddy to Polymorph you into a dire lion or dire tiger, then pounce, gaining iterative attacks with your unarmed strike while treating all of your natural weapons as secondary weapons, giving you 1x Power Attack on all of these attacks. This works especially well with Shock Trooper/Heedless Charge. |
| runestar06-30-06, 10:23 AM | Depends on what you have to play with. If you are an elf, rapier is arguably the best since you are proficient with it. If you are willing to burn a feat, spiked chain is better, though you still need to invest a great deal of feats and energy to really make it shine. |
| Dalthbar06-30-06, 11:00 AM | I agree with spiked chain if you have a fighter with feats to burn. If not, go unarmed with a monk - they have a bunch of fun feats already built into the class features. |
| kjenks06-30-06, 11:44 AM | I saw an interesting spiked chain fighter build. He had a couple of levels of bard so he could cast Master's Touch (a swift action) to be proficient in his spiked chain. He was on his way to warchanter. |
| Rulebook06-30-06, 01:05 PM | Light Picks. ive always been a sucker for a big crit multiplier. i know mathamatically its actually a little weaker over the long run than an axe, but its so much more fun and rewarding when you score the big hit! |
| __DnD4Life__06-30-06, 04:11 PM | I would have to agree with spiked chain. 2d4, x2 PA, trip, +2 disarm, finesseable. just awesome, not to mention the 10' reach. *drool* Second is the rapier. Nice crit, one handed weapon, so PA is a go, 1d6 damage, martial, and elves (usually high dex anyways) get auto proficiency with them. |
| Bulletproof_Condom06-30-06, 05:57 PM | Monk's unarmed strike. Trip, grapple, disarm, and sunder with the highest base damage in the game. |
