| Dheran07-31-06, 06:55 PM | Don't answer this guy. This post is a troll. It's like asking "what's the best car" without saying what type of road, number of passengers, need for cargo, & c. There's no "best" answer without a more specific question. Plus the name is a famous fictitious character from a movie, and the join date is this month. |

I need to know what is the best armor That depends greatly on the situation. There's a topic over at the Character Optimisation forums discussing this, although it may be a few pages back: it shouldn't be too hard to find, however. The gnome's have some nice exotic armour which applies to touch attacks, and full-plate is one of the better armours in the Player's Handbook. You'll notice that some armours, like half-plate, are just plain bad. The best "ridiculously heavy" armour, granting a +10 armour bonus, is the mechanus gear in the Planar Handbook. Could you supply me with some information as to your character's situation, so that I can provide you with some more detailed information of what's the best armour for you? One odd option that might be a good one for a character with high Dexterity: bracers of armour and a monk's belt. |

| Tony Vargas07-31-06, 07:14 PM | Simple question, simple answer: Core, the 'best' (highest total AC) armors are Celestial Mail (if you have a DEX of 26) and +5 Mithral Full Plate (if your DEX is 16). Both give you an armor+enhancement+DEX bonus of 16 (26 AC). If you can't afford one of these, or if your DEX is anything other than 26 or 16, there may be more effecient or optimal choices, but those two represent the most AC you can squeeze out of just simply wearing armor, using just the PH & DMG. |

| Esponer07-31-06, 07:34 PM | sorry by specifics i just wanted too see genaral opinion Well, in my opinion mythril full-plate +5 is one of the best armours you can shoot for in ordinary circumstances. If you absolutely need light armour, celestial armour and mythril breastplate +5 are both good bets. Padded armour +5 can be handy for rogues, although combining bracers of armour with a monk's belt (if your Wisdom is high) can be superior for a given cost. Of the more "specialised" stuff, mechanus gear is fantastic if you can find a way to circumvent the movement penalties, such as if you prefer to ride or are a knight (Player's Handbook II). It really does depend on the circumstances, though. The right armour depends on your Dexterity bonus, and the balance between the worth of an armour bonus and a Dexterity bonus depends on whether or not you have uncanny dodge. |
| mvincent07-31-06, 09:24 PM | And here's another troll.Actually Esponer, the others have a point. Based on this new persons other questions, writing style, join date of 7/31/06, and 13 posts made fairly rapidly after joining, they might have reason to be incredulous. But assuming the OP is legit: Celestial armor |
| Zheon07-31-06, 09:29 PM | the best armor? bracers of armor +8. play a dex-based character. ive gotten a +13 modifyer on my dex at one point. without buffs. coupled, thats 21 AC, and no encumberance. better if you play a monk. Edit** by the way, pick up a book and learn to spell. noone likes spelling errors on the boards. |
