can anyone think of a better level 6 human fighter weapon combo than this...i'm trying a few things out...remember at this level money isnt awesome and needs to be spend on the "shield" part of "meatshield"

needed feats:
2 weap fighting
oversized 2 weap fighting
weapon proficiency: bastard sword
up to greater cleave
monkey grip (don't know why i got this)

ring of keen
2x large balanced impact bastard swords
(can be wielded in each hand, dealing 2d8+str with 13-20 crit)

in an attack round
2 attacks with +9 on attack roll, 2d8+4 [13-20 crit]
1 attack with +4 on attack roll, 2d8+4 [13-20 crit]
if killed, another +9, 2d8+4 [13-20 crit]
and another...
and another...
i think i need supreme cleave....

i have strength 18 and dex 16. i'm thinking at level 8 i will add one to dex (makes 17) and get improved 2 weapon fighting for a 4th hit

I'm asuming your not usingonly core books because I have'nt heard of Monkey grip, oversized two weapon fighting, or the ring of keen.

Just gonna stick with this for a moment.

If I got Power Attack instead of TWF, and used a normal Greatsword, and Power Attacked for 4 points to make up the difference in the attack bonuses (-2 for TWF, -2 for Monkey Grip), I'd have the same bonus to attack, but be dealing 2d6+12 damage.

My average per hit is 19. Yours is 13.

So, if we hit with all our attacks, I deal 38 damage, and you deal 39.

If I take Weapon Focus: Greatsword and Weapon Spec: Greatsword, in place of your EWP and OTWF, I'm dealing an extra 4 damage a hit (+2 from WS, +2 to power attack for the additional +1 from WF to even out to-hits again), and now I outdamage you at 46 average to your 39.

And that's without considering that I only had to pay for one weapon so it's probably better, especially as I don't need it to be Balanced, and that your off-hand attack should, in fact, only be dealing 2d8+2, because off-hand attacks always deal 0.5x Str bonus to damage (check the PHB Glossary for "off hand").

Oh, and my cleaves deal more damage per Cleave, to boot. And if the enemy's AC is high, I can choose not to Power Attack and instead have a better chance of actually landing a hit.

That won't help any.

Fighting with two weapons is almost never worth it unless you've got a source of additional damage per hit from somewhere, like Sneak Attack.

Especially since, if we assume 32 point buy, to get an 18 Str and 16 Dex, you could have a max of a 14 Con. And that's if everything else is base. My greatsword wielder, in addition to dealing more damage, likely has a better AC (since Full Plate's armor and dex bonuses total +9, as opposed to most other armor's +8) and more hitpoints.

If you want a good weapon combo, forget Monkey Grip, and forget using two weapons.

Complete Warrior I believe, which is an official WOTC book.

Btw Jimmy, might want to check out the Character Optimization forum:

the best two weapon fighter i ever had was a rogue with a pair of +1 firey/frost/shock/corrosive short swords

i'd get into a flank and just grab a fistfull of d6's and watch the fighter blanch.

twf is best left to small weapons with neat enhancements. a pair of wounding daggers is a good bet, or a pair of burst/burst/burst/burst light picks. that kind of stuff.

problem with rouge 2 weapon fighters is they have a hard time surviving a full attack. So they do a lot of damage, but if they don't drop the target, they can get splatted pretty easily on the MOB's turn.

As Raymond_Luxury_Yacht already told you,

1. Impact only works with bludgeoning weapons.
2. Keen does not stack with any effect that increases the crit range.
3. Even if it did, it'd be 12-20, not 9-20. [This was for rapier . . . bastard swords would be 15-20, rather than 13-20]
4. There's no such thing as a 'ring of keen'.

And I will also add that monkey grip does not work for the offhand. Also, supreme cleave is a Prestige Class ability, not a feat.
