I've seen several ideas tossed about, but nothing concrete. Thanks - T Depends on what feat it is. Price it based on the actual use of the feat as a bonus would be my idea. Not all feats are created equal. |
| Thurbane08-11-07, 11:02 PM | Well, there's a few items in the SRD: Gloves of Missile Snaring: Snatch Arrows (2/day), 4000gp Ioun Stone (Dark blue): Alertness (continual), 10000gp ...so what would be the basis for these calculations? |
| archerpwr08-11-07, 11:10 PM | I think it's largely adhoc. Is this with a specific feat in mind? Remember, all feats are not created equal. Example: extra turning vs dodge. Both can be taken at level 1, but extra turning is MUCH better. |
| Thurbane08-12-07, 01:17 AM | Not really for anything specific, just a general guideline for adding new items to my game. |
| Thurbane08-13-07, 03:11 AM | ...so, anyone else with some thoughts? |
| Patrick Draken-Korin08-16-07, 09:39 PM | From a couple sources (previous threads and the AEG) I'd say that 10,000 Gp is about the right price for a magic item that effectively grants a feat. Note: 2/day at 4,000 Gp is the same as 5/day at 10,000 Gp and 5/day is considered equivalent to unlimited use. That's just a basic idea though. Personally, if you wouldn't allow the feat to go for a mere 10,000 Gp I wouldn't allow it for any price. That or I'd make the feat a weapon or armor enhancment, and they'd have to give a +x value for it. |
| risner08-20-07, 10:05 PM | ...so, anyone else with some thoughts? If you are looking for a formula, there isn't one. Just use the standard magic item creation rules: 1) price it the same as a similar item. 2) price it the same as any other item of similar power or desirability. In other words if you can buy just one item, and you really want flying about the same, then price it the same as Winged Boots or something that grants flying. |
