My friend in my group wishes to create a powerful demon slaying weapon for his cleric. Besides it having it be made out of cold iron and having the Bane weapon property for evil & chaotic outsiders; what other magical stuff would the weapon benefit from?

Holy is a great one to have.

Collision perhaps

Holy, Axiomatic (AKA Lawful), Sonic (Miniatures Handbook), whatever else they aren't resistant to.

Your best bet is +5 Holy Axiomatic Evil Outsiderbane
Vs a demon, it's +7 to hit, +6D6 to damage

or +4 Holy Axiomatic Evil Outsiderbane and Choatic Outsiderbane if you don't mind losing a +1
Vs a Demon, it's +8 to hit, +8D6 to damage

However, the latter is less effective against non-demonic entities (such as annoying cultists or undead)

The Bane weapon ability doesn't stack. A weapon that is Bane against both Evil and Chaotic Outsiders only gives a +2 Attack, +2D6+2 Damage bonus against a Vrock, not +4/+4D6+4.

Thundering is good for weapons with a high Threat range or Crit multiplier, and it works on just about everything else as well as Demons.

bane effects stack just fine. It's typeless damage, and being applied against a different target. If the target happens to be vulnerable to both, how unfortunate.

There's even an official module out with a Lawful/Evil Outsider bane Holy dancing sword that ripped apart a pit fiend after it's wielder had already died.

It's a typeless bonus, but it's from the same effect type (the Bane weapon property). It's the same as the Ranger's Favored Enemy bonus.

Cold Iron against Chaotic Outsiders
Silver against Lawful Outsiders

Thank you all for the comments and suggestions. My friend will appriciate having this all in perspective. :D

Quick queston: Would Dimensional Anchor and Dimensional Lock (I believe those are the correct names, I don’t have all my books with me right now) prevent demons from summoning more of their kind with their summon ability?

Blood Iron. Planar Handbook. I have an Axiomatic Bloodiron Longsword in a game and it is perfect for demon slaying.

Bloodiron (mined from the bloodiest battlefields of the outerplanes) is considered cold iron for the purposes of overcoming damage reduction (thus perfect for demon slaying) and gives a bonus to confirming crit rolls.

Plus it makes the blade pitch black with any sharpened edges blood red... how sweet is that?

Get a two-bladed sword, if you can afford the feat.

One half cold iron, one half silver, both halves holy, evil outsider bane, and yeah, sonic is good to fill out that last bit, or you could go double scimitar instead and do thundering because the higher crits make it worth it.

You see the cool thing about two-sided weapons like that is you can use one side as a two-handed weapon, gaining the commensurate PA bonuses, or use the extra attack when there's no metal-based DR or when the DR is low enough that most of your attack will get through.

Plus they're just badass. And you only need to get improved crit once (don't forget about that thundering synergy).

Wounding works against demons, and is a great enhancement for anyone who has alot of attacks, and doesn't fight constructs and/or undead alot.

Spellcaster-bane, since 99% of outsiders have at least one spell-like ability.

If you want it to overcome both DR the Metaline Property (who's exact location I've forgotten) will allow the weapon to be any special metal type at the user disgression, which has many additional uses besides just Demons. Conversely Silversheen is fairly cheap, so buying a Cold Iron WEapon and just keeping some onhand for when you face outsiders of the apporpriate type may also be an option.

ps: On the stacking of bane, while I do agree that the increase of the Enhancement bonus would not stack due to wording, the extra damge I believe would still be applied for all bane effects that a subject qualified for. But that's just my opinion.

Neither of the dimentional spells prevent summoning. Dispel evil send em back though.

Stick with banishment. And technically, a demon killing mace qualifies as something the demon hates, and boosts the caster check.

Is there some weapon property capable of preventing the demon from using its teleport SLA? I could have sworn I saw a fiend-hunter 2-handed sword, where 1 blade dismissed the fiend, the other prevented it from teleporting away. :)

Hmmm, personally I'd disagree. One bonus comes from Lawful/Chaotic (I cant remember which is which out of demons and devils) Outsider-Bane, the other from Evil Outsider-Bane
