What's the best weapon for a tripping, disarming, Goliath Warblade? I'd rather not have to take EWP unless the argument is compelling enough. Not interested in reach either.

These qualities are paramount:

Tripping Weapon -- to give the option to drop it if counter-tripped (I can always carry 2!).

2-Handed -- +4 on disarm attempts.

Big Damage Dice -- well, I guess that's just a typical request.

Thanks in advance for the suggestions,

I suggest a Dire Flail or a Heavy Flail. Dire Flail is an exotic weapon, but as a double weapon can be used either two-handed or as a one-handed and a light weapon (multi-weapon penalties apply) that does 1d8/1d8. Heavy flail is a martial two-handed weapon that does 1d10.

Both give a +2 unnamed bonus to disarm opposed rolls (in addition to the +4 for being a two-handed weapon) and both can be used to trip. Both can be dropped to avoid being counter-tripped on a failed attempt.

I personally loved my fighter using spiked chain. (reach, tripping, etc) it isn't big damage, but if I can keep the guy on thr ground, or him weaponless, any of my allies can finish them off.

Step 1: Trip opponent with free AoO when they try do almost anything. Damage them with free attack from improved trip.
Step 2: Disarm the opponent with free AoO provoked when they try to stand up.
Step 3: Trip opponent with free AoO provoked when they try to retrieve their weapon. Goto step 1.

Here are two more the chain lash and the lynxpaw both are exotics. You can use these to avoid the 'Oh! great another spiked chain build'. Nothing against the spiked chain, I've done builds with it including on a rogue that used it for sneak attacks.

What books are the Chain Lash and Lynxpaw in? Or, what makes them better than a Heavy Flail -- enough to warrant EWP? And, thanks for understanding about the Spiked Chain.

spiked chain hands down. for the EWP you get the reach as well as the trip/disarm bonuses. that ability to trip/disarm from 10' away makes it ungodly nice at this job. why on earth are you not concerned with it? being a goliath dosent give it to you, and having reach AND close range is useful!

trippers/disarmers shouldnt be concerned with damage dice anyway, its not what they're there to do. leave that to the barbarians. besides, your chain will step up in dice with your powerful build anyway.

I'm not interested in a reach weapon becuase...

1. I already have another build in mind for that: http://forums.gleemax.com/showpost.php?p=14498452&postcount=20

2. If I want reach in this build, I'd rather take a dip in Barbarian for Mountain Rage.

Spiked Chain. Does everything you want at reach or while right next to you.

If you don't want the exotic two-hander then I'd look at the often underrated Flails.

The chain lash is in Savage Species you can use it as a double weapon or as a reach weapon. The weight is less than the heavy flail and you can use weapon finesse.

The lynxpaw is in Races of the Wild it can be used as a double weapon or use either end as the primary weapon. The weight is less than the heavy flail and you can use weapon finesse. I was mainly trying to give a couple of more options.

After looking at the heavy flail some more, it is good for both the trip and disarm attempts plus having more crunch damage (after the trip) then any of the weapons mentioned.

The Heavy Flail does everything you want: two-handed, Trip weapon, +2 disarm, good damage (d10 or 2d8 for the large version). It even has a 19-20 threat range.

The Halberd and Scythe are also two-handed trip weapons. Both do piercing & slashing damage. The halberd has the edge on damage (especially when you consider the large versions) and can be set vs a charge, while the Scythe has a x4 crit multiplier (the halberd is x3).
