Tony111 10-19-05, 02:26 PM	Suppose I am medium and I want to use a large longbow. Can I do this at -2 attack? The books says that you can wield a weapon a size category larger but you take a -2 penalty to attack and the weapon becomes one degree of difficulty harder to use. If a bow was a two-handed weapon, this would shift it to a three-handed weapon, making it impossible to use. This part is understood. The problem is that a longbow is not a two-handed weapon, it is a ranged weapon that required two hands to use. So what happens now? -Tony
00_Whupass 10-19-05, 02:32 PM	You cannot wield a two handed weapon that is inappropraitely sized without the benefit of the Monkey Grip feat. For instance a Halfling could wield a medium Longsword but would take -2 penalty and be required to wield it with two hands, I'm not sure about this next part but I think they may not get the normal benefits for two handed wiellding when using an oversized weapon, so no 1.5x Str to damage, and no 2:1 exchange rate for power attack. As I said I'm not sure about that last part. So no you cannot use an oversized bow unless you wish to take the Monkey Grip Feat.
allenchan 10-19-05, 02:34 PM	Instead I'd recommend just using a Greatbow (CW) or a Bone Bow (Frostburn). both are exotic weapons that do 1d10 and have a 120ft range increment. Greatbow is nice because you can take Longbow feats and they will work on the Greatbow; and you can take Exotic Weapon Master so you dont get AoO's from firing in melee. Using inappropriately sized weapons is rather pointless.
