| Rhomphaia06-05-06, 07:11 AM | In an upcoming Dragonlance game, I have a fighter that is going to be my secondary character (in case my cleric bites it early) and the basic concept for the character is a guy who wields a big ol' two-handed hammer. Where might I find stats for such a weapon or what weapon might be considered equivilent to such a smackin' stick? |
| Sennet06-05-06, 07:43 AM | That would be the Maul from Complete Warrior, I'd think. You can use it 2-handed as a martial weapon, and it's the biggest hammer I know of (except the Double hammer, which is a double-weapon ;) ) |

Totally agree This "two handed warhammer" can be created using the same difference between "battle axe" and "two handed axe" without unbalancing anything too much. |

If you do plan on taking EWM and Uncanny Blow, there's the Warmace. If you do plan on taking EWM and Uncanny Blow, and don't care about AC, there's the Warmace (CW). If you can't afford to spend a feat on EWP, there's the Maul (CW) or Heavy Flail (PHB). Screw the fluff text - describe whichever weapon you choose as a 'big, two-handed hammer'. |
| Rhomphaia06-05-06, 08:30 AM | Thanks for all the replies. I was thinking about the maul, but the 1d10 to damage was a little less than what I was looking for. Anyway, I am just thinking of using the stats for a greataxe, but changing the damage type to bludgeoning and run that by my DM, seems appropriate for a big-ass hammer of that magnitude. If that proves overpowered, I think I can come up with something. |
