But I seriously doubt an item granting a constant bite attack would be a mere 4,000 gold. A bite attack not only deals 1d6+Str more damage (for a medium creature) but is also in addition to a full attack (albeit at a -5 penalty). I'd rather compare to existing items. Since I don't own the Magic Item Compendium (and we can't really do a good comparison on the forums, since posting its description would go against the copyright), I'll compare it to the speed weapon enhancement. The ability counts as a +3 enhancment bonus for pricing, so that means any weapon with the ability costs at least 32,300 gold. Now obviously an attack with an abnormal weapon that deals short sword damage at a -5 penalty isn't as good as an extra attack with a magical weapon at full BAB. But it's nothing to scoff at. I'd say about half price (15,000 gold) would be a good place to start. |

At 2000g, every fighter and rogue would have it. |

Since Bite of the wolf is also a first level power, I figure 8,500gp would be a good estiment for a "Helm of the Wolf" (psychoactive skins don't take up a magic item slot on the body, and have thier own special "skin" slot, I don't know if this would make them use the x2 cost for no slot or x1.5 cost for uncustomary space limitation, i'm assuming x2, but if not, then the cost would be more like 11,333gp 3sp, 3cp.) |
