My cleric just turned 3rd level and I want to get him an exotic weapon proficiency, but I want it to be the most bizarre esoteric exotic weapon possible. Any suggestions? Maybe some weird nets or whips or anything?

The gyrespike from arms and equipment guide and the thrombash from sandstorm come to mind.

I found the Duom (Arms and Equipment Guide) rather bizarre.

Ribbonweave (from Races of Eberron) functions as a club, but it features a catch that can be triggered as a free action, releasing a flexible sharp-edged metal ribbon from the end of the stick. You can use the Weapon Finesse feat with the weapon.

Dragonchain (from Red Hand of Doom) is a 6-foot length of weighted chain, with a heavy striking head at one end cast in the shape of a dragon's skull and a chain loop at the other. Can be used to disarm or trip opponents. Can also constrict, while grappling opponents.

the spiked chain is real cool....my bud had one and he would sit up front in combat tripping people and let everybody soak up the attacks of oppurtunitys or since u are a cleric if u are low on hit points or u just dont want anyone to attack u you can trip them.....i see the spiked chain useful :):D

The Harpoon is pretty neat, from Stormwrack, as are Eagle's Claws and Scorpion's Claws from Sandstorm.

Welllll....depending upon his alignment/domains...

Lawful: Knowledge or similar Domain: Repeating Crossbow.

Chaotic: Martial or similar Domain: Gyrspike of Lynxpaw

Good: Healing or similar Domain: Sleeve Catcher

Evil: Death or similar Domain: Scourge or Rutterkin Snap-Tong.

Those are some ideas....anyone else?

The stump knife from either the Sword and Fist book or the Arms and Equipment Guide.

Why?

Because it's the only one you have to cut off your hand in order to use.

The Lynx-Paw from RotW is pretty odd...a Rapier with a spiked ball-and-chain attached to the hilt...quite how it's a viable weapon I don't know...

How about making up a silly weapon, such as a large frozen tuna? (Just give it the stats of a greatclub)

Bastion Press has a book called Arms and Armor. it has a plethera of weird and truly exotic weapons. It also has rules for a pen to be used as a weapon, been dying to prove the whole pen/sword thing.

From that same book, Footbow is kinda funny if you don't fly.....

My favorite exotic weapons are the rubber chicken and fish slapping. The fish can also be balanced for throwing. Don't you remember that muppet?

If you're referring to "Mystery Men", then we should also add bowling ball, spoon, and the Spleen's a$s.

Now that just doesn't make sense.

The ball was not a weapon but a cohort. The Blue Raja specialized in forks and the Spleen actually HAD powers... sorta.

Unless you are talking about the comic books, in which Shoveler is the only one of these character to be in the comic (aside from Mr. Furious and Dr. Heller, of course). In which case, the Shoveler wields an artifact weapon. Specifcally King Arthur's shovel.

"OK Mr.BBEG, I pull out my bow, get on my back........."

Ummm...that was actually a viable way of getting extra power into a longbow shot...(the first media example that comes to mind is the Kings army in Hero, though I'm sure there are others).

If anything, there should be a rule stating that you can use a normal longbow in that fashion and it does extra damage or has better range or something...maybe a feat that lets you do it...hmmm
