| SanguineRed02-19-07, 09:39 PM | I would like to add the quality "Blackened" to my armor. I know that I've seen it in one of my books, but I can't seem to find it. Does anyone know where what book its in??? |
| jaelis02-19-07, 09:58 PM | Check here (http://www.everythingemeril.com/newneworcook.html)? edit- sorry, couldn't resist. Any chance that shadow (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicItems/magicArmor.htm#shadow) is what you're looking for? |
| Norsesmithy02-19-07, 10:19 PM | Did you mean to post a link to a Emeril Lagasse cook book website? 'Cause that is totally unrelated. Oh, and sorry OP, I haven't heard of it, perhaps searching Crystal Keep might help. |
| Shadow Weaver02-19-07, 11:45 PM | Looks like you missed the joke. AFAIK, "blackening" armor simply means painting it black so it is more resistant to oxidation (and possibly to make it look menacing). |
| runestar02-19-07, 11:52 PM | What type of benefit is the blackened property supposed to confer? It does not ring a bell... |
| emanresu02-20-07, 12:22 AM | blackened leather armour is more efficient for protection but less efficient for mobility, at least in real life, I have no idea what it does in D&D |
| Izlyn02-20-07, 12:34 AM | Blackened??? sound like it gives some bonus to...Hide???? I'll check my books for info... |
| runestar02-20-07, 12:54 AM | Black would actually make it harder for you to hide. You will want dark blue instead.:) |
| AllWillFall2Me02-20-07, 01:09 AM | I think I remember an ability like this. It was like a flavor reverse of Everbright in FR if I'm thinking right. It gave resist to acid and cold or something IIRC. I might be wrong. EDIT: I meant Blueshine from MoF. Armor is immune to acid and rust, you get +5 circ to hide, +1 cost. |
| Josephvaile02-20-07, 08:29 AM | The only thing I can think of is the colored metal special bonus from races of dragon, but otherwise nothing comes to mind. Maybe you should try to tell us what the effect was. |
| runestar02-20-07, 09:29 AM | Could he be referring to this...? Shadow This armor is jet black and blurs the wearer whenever she tries to hide, granting a +5 competence bonus on Hide checks. (The armor’s armor check penalty still applies normally.) Faint illusion; CL 5th; Craft Magic Arms and Armor, invisibility; Price +3,750 gp. Shadow, Improved As shadow, except it grants a +10 competence bonus on Hide checks. Moderate illusion; CL 10th; Craft Magic Arms and Armor, invisibility; Price +15,000 gp. Shadow, Greater As shadow, except it grants a +15 competence bonus on Hide checks. Moderate illusion; CL 15th; Craft Magic Arms and Armor, invisibility; Price +33,750 gp. |
| Kyaran02-20-07, 01:31 PM | ...Emeril Lagasse cook book... I say you just *Bam!* it up a notch with a spice weasel. Otherwise, I can't think of anything besides Shadow either. |
| Demetri_Knighthawk02-21-07, 04:02 AM | my vote is +2 equipment bonus to hide checks when in lowlight or darker enviroments |
| Demetri_Knighthawk02-21-07, 04:03 AM | or you could apply weaponblack to the armor as wellf or a similar effect, just watch out for touches unless you got fire resistance 30. |
