Do Bladed Gauntlets exist in v3.5? I thought I remembered them from Sword & Fist in v3.0... have they been updated and included anywhere in v3.5?

I've been keeping my eyes open, but I haven't seen anything. They had cool flavor, but poorly balanced mechanics. I thought it would have been the first weapon updated (in Complete Warrior or whatever).

Alas...

BLADE GAUNTLETS:THE STATS AND SOURCE!
Listen, have ya heard of the arms and equipment guide? its in there near the beginning. it's a small exotic weapon, deals 1d6 of dmg, the crit ratio is 19-20x2, weigh 4lbs. do slashing dmg. the price? 30GP! see pg. 6 of the arms and equipment guide for more info. they got things like the fullblade(cloud's type of sword from FF7), gyrospikes, and ELIXER ARMORS!

Why do you find them poorly balanced?

You spend a feat to be able to use the equivalent of a weapon chain + short sword. Remember, just because it can't be disarmed doesn't mean it can't be sundered, and if you're spending the exotic weapon feat anyway, it's a much better min/max investment to pick up 1-handed bastard sword or spiked chain.

I think Ace is referring to the fact that originally (albeit mistakenly) they had a range increment of 17-20, which is plain broken. Now, however, with a range increment of only 19-20 they are essentially short swords that can't be disarmed. Not worth a the extra feat, since you can achieve the same effect with a locked gauntlet. So they do remain imbalanced ... it just so happens that they're underpowered.
