Blood As Poison [Archive] - Wizards Community

01-11-07, 12:29 AM In the Book Of Vile Darkness there is a PRC called Cancer Mage, since a Cancer Mage is the host of many vile things would it be logical that arrows that have been coated with some blood from a Cancer Mage should have a chance to give a person struck with that arrow some kind of disease? If so what the rule for this?

01-11-07, 09:28 AM There is no rule, so you'd have to make it up. I'd suggest just picking an appropriate disease out of the DMG; use the Encounter Level as a guideline; if this is a low level character pick something like Shakes. If mediumj level, Red Ache of Devil Chills, and if high level Demon Fever.

But don't give the character this ability for free; inflicting disease is an Extraordinary Ability. If it's a PC, make him spend a feat on it. If an NPC (which I suspect), give an ad hoc bonus to the xp for the encounter; I don think it's worth +1 to the CR.

Actually Its a PC rogue, he wants to multiclass into Cancer Mage so he can use his blood as a poison. We came to the conclusion that since Cancer Mages suffers no ill effects, except visual, to itself from the diseases it carries, it should be able to go and infect others with its own blood as they are not immune to disease.

Example cancer mage has lets say Acid Fever, the cancer mage is immune to the Str damage but if it would say put some infected blood on a arrow or dagger and attacked something would that creature have a chance of becoming diseased and taking the Str damage
