05-24-06, 06:41 PM ok i have a newbee question. what do the above types mean?

in the equipment list it states the type of weapon it is,

example:
a dagger is a peircing type weapon
a club is a bludgeoning type weapon
and a longsword is a slashing type

what does this mean for the game mechanincs, are there any bonuses for having a peircing weapon oppsed to a slashing? or does a bludgeoning weapon do sudual damage as well.

any help would be appreciated

05-24-06, 06:53 PM Some types of damage work better or worse against certain enemies.

Using a dagger against a skeleton is a bad idea, because they really don't have anything to pierce, but bludgeoning them with a club is much more effective.

05-24-06, 06:59 PM Some monsters have Damage Reduction, meaning they take less damage from all weapon attacks. Typically, there will be something that can get around this DR...This is where damage type might come in.

For instance, a skeleton has DR 5/bludgeoning. Hitting a skeleton with a dagger won't do too much. However, smashing it with a mace works just fine.

On the other hand, zombies have DR 5/slashing. It's too squishy to be bludgeoned, and stabbing it with, say, a rapier will not produce much of an effect. If you hack away at it with a longsword, though, it can be slashed apart.

Some of them can be set against a charge, and they do double damage.
