| GawainBS01-03-08, 12:36 PM | Hello I'm looking for a Bludgeoning Weapon with reach that can be wielded two-handed. It can be anything except for (Spiked) Chain-like crap, the source doesn't matter, as long as it's official. (So everything from Wizards, Dragons, etc.) Thanks in advance! |
| Tedronai01-03-08, 03:05 PM | Ramhammer, an exotic weapon from the Planar Handbook Mancatcher, an exotic weapon from the Complete Warrior (deal non-lethal bludgeoning damage) I'm rather certain that there are others, and the Arms and Equipment Guide would be a good place to start if you were looking for them (though it is a 3.0 book) |
| jaelis01-03-08, 03:12 PM | There was a Dragon magazine issue with a ton of polearms a while back, I'm pretty sure there was a bludgeoning one (lucern hammer, perhaps?). |
| pres_man01-03-08, 03:24 PM | Lucerne hammer in Arms and Equipment Guide, I don't know if it has been updated to 3.5. |
| rjsilverthorn01-03-08, 03:25 PM | Lucerne Hammer- Dragon 331 Ankus- Dragon 331 Pincer Staff -Underdark |
| GawainBS01-03-08, 03:25 PM | Ramhammer doesn't threaten, so that's out. Mancatcher is non-lethal, so it's not super. I missed that Dragon. It's also the one with the Pike & Shield-style feat, but it's one of the few Dragons I haven't got, sadly enough. Neither do I have Arms & Equipment Guide. Edit: Thanks, I'll search around for that Dragon, which will be quite hard. |
| pres_man01-03-08, 03:30 PM | Lucerne hammer in Arms and Equipment Guide, I don't know if it has been updated to 3.5. Actually I guess it is actually a pick like weapon (piercing), I wonder why they called it a hammer? |
| Brehon01-03-08, 03:38 PM | The only lethal, two-handed, bludgeoning, reach weapon I see is the Pincer Staff (1d10, x2, 15 lbs., 20 gp). But my spreadsheet doesn't include anything past Complete Scoundrel, so there may be more out there. |
| mvincent01-03-08, 03:43 PM | Actually I guess it is actually a pick like weapon (piercing), I wonder why they called it a hammer?Because of how it was used. Note that warhammers were frequently spiked (like picks) instead of flat also (yet still called hammers). |
| rjsilverthorn01-03-08, 03:51 PM | The lucerne from Dragon is actually listed as both bludgeoning and Piercing damage. |
| GawainBS01-03-08, 04:06 PM | The Lucerne Hammer in A&EG is piercing. Is the Pincer Staff from Underdark, or from Savage Species? |
| Bopple01-03-08, 07:24 PM | It's no really a big issue because Underdark is 3.5 and Savage Species is 3.0. And both versions are bludgeoning, with slightly different stats, anyway. |
| Legdiwena01-03-08, 09:07 PM | Large quarterstaff? |
| GawainBS01-04-08, 06:02 AM | I think Large weapons don't give reach, only improved damage and a to hit penalty. |
| Belkar01-04-08, 11:51 AM | Large Characters get reach. Not large weapons. ;) |
| AtsuiShoto01-04-08, 12:35 PM | I believe a case could be made for a Drunken Master [CW] improvising a 15' bludgeoning reach weapon from a 30' ladder, or a 20' ladder with an iron pot hanging off the back for balance, or some other unusual contrivance. The ladder may even be usable to trip! If you need to have a very specific weapon, the drunken master is great for his ability to make one out of junk laying around. Downsides: you have to be drunk, and your DM can be a d*** about disallowing things. Upsides: being drunk actually benefits this PrC, and you DM won't let you break the game. |
| GawainBS01-04-08, 01:23 PM | Well, it is intended for a Gish, with Greater Mighty Wallop... |
| AtsuiShoto01-04-08, 01:40 PM | Well, that looks like a good spell for a Monk, which is the most reasonable entrance into Drunken Master, anyway. There are some strong monk gish builds out there, so on the off-chance your build isn't already formed to your satisfaction, Drunken Master could be a good idea (who doesn't like untyped extra damage dice, tower shields with on/off switches, crooked charges, and +8 Str or Con?). |
| GawainBS01-04-08, 02:19 PM | Well, for the Gish, Monk isn't in consideration, nor is Drunken Master. Drunken Master might be worthwhile for my Tashalatora-build, though... |
