Blurstrike Weapons [Archive] - Wizards Community

08-08-05, 12:40 PM Blurstrike is an enchantment that, when activated, denies an opponent their Dex bonus for the "first attack made with the weapon per round".

My question is with this wording. Say you have two shortswords, both enchanted with that ability, and using your Two-Weapon Fighting feat, could you attack once with each weapon and have the opponent be denied his Dex bonus on BOTH weapons, so long as you only attack once with each weapon?

If the answer is yes, would you be able to get two Sneak Attacks in? Or, if you could only get the effect of Blurstrike to work once against the opponent per round, then could you do a Sneak Attack with Blurstrike on the first round and then with your additional attacks (if any) attack as normal?

Given that wording, I would rule you get 1 attack from each weapon without their Dex, allowing you to get a total of 2 sneak attacks per round.

Also, its states in the descriptor that the first attack from a blurstrike WEAPON is flatfooted, unless they have uncanny dodge or don't rely on sight. So yeah, each one would get it. That is per round, up to 10 rounds a day. it is a +2 effect.

The way he worded it was FAR more powerfull.

Given a command word activation and only lasting for 10 rounds, this makes for a reasonable +2 weapon.

Without the command word I would put it at +3.

08-08-05, 02:38 PM Nope, mages in shadow have concealment so no sneak attacking.

And it won't do much against most mages anyway as they tend to:

1) Stay back

2) Use non-ac defenses such as Blur (see concealment above), Mirror Image, or Displacement.

08-16-05, 01:31 PM If you had a Blurstrike Rapier of Speed, would this extra attack due to the Speed also allow another Sneak Attack (since Speed allows a full, modified extra attack at your highest BAB)?

With Blurstrike being activated at the beginning of your attack, would they still be denied their Dexterity bonus (making them a little easier to hit, if not for Sneak Attack purposes)?

08-16-05, 01:52 PM no it would not continue for a speed weapon, it only applies to the first attack each round, each itterative attack with the weapon does not get it, so only once each round, but dual weilding will help. since it applies per weapon.
