| Zanik03-12-05, 02:27 AM | while making a wizard for a campain, i ran accross something which i had seen before, but was never really relevant. The boccobs blessed book states "A wizard can fill the 1,000 pages of a Boccob's blessed book with spells without paying the 25GP per page material cost." However in the PH it states it is 100GP per page. The errata didn't cover it, and there is no search, have others come up with the soulution? |
| Wizard03-12-05, 03:00 AM | Yeah, I noticed that too when it came out. They didn't errata it because we're supposed to check the primary source for a rule if two rules disagree. In this case, the PHB reigns supreme, so it's the full 100/page. |
| Zanik03-12-05, 03:08 AM | well though that makes some sence, why is it mentioned in the first place that the book gives some sort of discount? it's a nifty book with what is has, but 12,500 is a lot, espcially since you should never be able to fill 1000 pages with spells. i could understand if it made it 75/gp a page, but not to completely disregard a part of a magic item due to some typo It could be possable that this was ment to say you don't have to pay for the material componant cost of transcribing spells from your spell book to your new spiffy boccobs? |
| PhaedrusXY03-12-05, 03:32 AM | Ignore the cost given for normally transcribing spells in the Boccob's description. Everything else listed there is correct and very clear. If you have a BBB, you don't have to pay to transcribe spells into it. You still have to have a scroll or another spellbook to copy them from, however. I think that's what Wizard meant, also. You pay 100 gp/page to transcribe into a normal spellbook. But you don't have to pay with the Boccob's because it explicitly says you don't. It doesn't nullify the entire item description just because they got a number wrong. I think this was addressed in a FAQ or something, also, but I can't remember where it was... |
