(Probably 1 person on this forum will have heard of the rpg Warlock...)

When a character takes a lot of damage and is slain - say, 46 damage from a troll's rending (starting HP=16) - what are the consequences for an ensuing Raise Dead spell? The core rules don't include details like "arms ripped off" or "nose torn away" (à la Tyrion Lannister) in combat, but the spell does specify "While the spell closes mortal wounds and repairs lethal damage of most kinds, the body of the creature to be raised must be whole. Otherwise, missing parts are still missing when the creature is brought back to life".

So, anyone have charts for generating "missing parts" from massive damage, etc.? :yuck:

Afterthought: what about a beheaded character? Can the head simply be stitched back onto the body and that's good enough for Raise Dead work?

Spells that bring you back from the dead are assumed to put you back together too.

Maybe let the cleric cast a "Make Whole" before he cast raise dead... corpses are objects, arent they? :gah:

Here's how I do it in my games:

Healing magic generally puts you back together no matter what. If I think it'd be cool if somone sustained a permanent injury I'll say magic was unable to heal it for some reason and it isn't entirely understood why.
