Bolas and barbed bolas [Archive] - Wizards Community

08-10-05, 12:16 PM Sorry, if this is a dumb question, but how does a trip attempt with a bola work by the rules. Do I have to make a normal attack roll and if it hits a second ranged touch for the trip or how does it really work. Thanks for any help.

08-10-05, 01:37 PM I believe the weapon needs only a single normal ranged attack doing subdual for a bolo, lethal for a barbed bolo. If that succeeds then you do the stat check to see if you trip.

You make a ranged touch attack to trip just like a melee trip attack and make the oppose roll.

The damage of the bola is when you use it for normal range attack without tripping.
