| Trial by Fire12-31-05, 05:48 PM | More like bolas of retrieving, isn't it? I don't know what the cost of something like that would be, but the target should definitely get a will save. If they automatically were transported prone to the feet of the thrower with no save, they would be too powerful. |
| David Berlapin12-31-05, 05:54 PM | Well it isnt really a serious thing, I am just considering that you can add "Returning" to a thrown weapon which makes the weapon return to you. So what would occur if you used bolas to trip someone by wraping around their legs. Isnt it feasable that the person would go with the bolas. |
| Wayfarer12-31-05, 06:12 PM | By the RAW, I'm fairly certain that the Returning Bolas would simply allow you to make a trip attack and then return to your hands. I don't believe there's any mechanical effect of the weapon wrapping around the target, any more than there is with a whip or a chain. So the Bolas would unwrap and return to your hand without moving the target, unless you added an additional enhancement. |
| Feor12-31-05, 06:35 PM | Yeah, they'd unwrap themselves then return to you. Mind you, anyone nearby would still get an AoO when the guy tried to stand up. Now, if you actually talked your DM into letting them drag him across the floor back to you... |
| tarkin12-31-05, 10:54 PM | Pulling the guy back to you sounds like an epic power to me. |
| JadeSpider964301-01-06, 12:19 AM | make it a +4 enchantment, str score of 10 and it can attempt to pull the victim back towards the thrower. |
| catzo01-01-06, 01:02 PM | make it a +4 enchantment, str score of 10 and it can attempt to pull the victim back towards the thrower. Even with normal retuning thrown weapons this becomes an issue if the target has Snatch Arrow. Does the weapon automaticly teleport back, out of the hand of the target? Do they have to make opposed Str checks, and then what is the Str? Or don't the weapon retun until you release them? And what happens if the returning weapon is thrown (as an attack) back at the owner? Does it return to the original target (who Snatched the weapon and threw it back?) Also does a weapon HAVE to return in the same turn? Or can you just chose to retrieve it at will? A returning net? you wouldn't want to return it until after the person has untangled themselves. Or maybe you have a rope attached to the end of Returning javelin and use it to go across a chasm. Comments? Any RAW on these? |
| BLusk01-01-06, 06:36 PM | Well, you could trip the guy onto a Tenser's Floating Disk, and have the disk return him for you. That'd probably take foresight and some pre-battle planning with your group's Wizard or Sorcerer, though. Brian |
