I'm trying my hand at item creation, and I never knew there were so many different kinds of bonuses. I'm trying to get a handle on what they all are and how they stack. So far I've seen:

Enhancement Bonus
Circumstance Bonus
Exalted Bonus
Sacred Bonus

and the list goes on

My question is, does a list of all the different types of bonuses exist in an easy-to-read format, or am I out of luck? Post all the ones you can think of here, as well as how they're used, and maybe we'll get our own list together.

I'm sure if their is a list but what you could do is perhaps go to your index at the back of your books and read though looking for bonuses or anything with bonus in it and get a list. Just remeber that different types stacks, but the same doesn't. Only exception is something describs as a +1 bonus that will stack with everything.

If you look up "bonus types" in the DMG index it will direct you to a long list on DMG pg 21.

That said, there is generally one (or occasionally 2) default magical bonus type for a given ability or check. For example, swords and armour have enhancement bonuses, skills have competence and circumstance bonuses, movement has enhancement bonuses, ability scores have enhancement bonuses, AC has deflection bonuses, saves have resistance bonuses. As an inexperienced designer you are wisest to stick with these defaults until you get a better feel of how items and bonuses might interact.

Moving into the realms of bonuses that stack with each other is something best left until you are more experienced.
