| Iabes_Q_c_a_Mahorella09-12-07, 11:05 PM | One of my players interupted my monster's ranged touch attakc with "but touch attacks don't get any bonuses from STR or DEX" WHUT. So ranged touch attacks [eg rays, warlock's eldrich blasts, etc] use only a d20 roll?!!? No BAB? No DEX modifyer? Same for melee??? Why have I never heard this before? Somebody please clarify, and, if true, gimme a source - PHB page number would be great. |
| jaelis09-12-07, 11:11 PM | Touch attacks are like any other attack. Apply your Str mod to attack rolls for melee touches, unless you have Weapon Finesse. Apply your Dex mod to attack rolls for ranged touches. Touch Attacks Some attacks disregard armor, including shields and natural armor. In these cases, the attacker makes a touch attack roll (either ranged or melee). When you are the target of a touch attack, your AC doesn’t include any armor bonus, shield bonus, or natural armor bonus. All other modifiers, such as your size modifier, Dexterity modifier, and deflection bonus (if any) apply normally. Those are the only changes make for touch attacks. Everything else stays the same. |
| Tedronai09-12-07, 11:16 PM | many (but not all) effects that generate the ability to make touch attacks specify that the attack receives no bonus to DAMAGE from high strength, but the attack roll is as normal even in those cases. |

| The_Piecone09-13-07, 05:52 PM | It would all depend on how the monster touches the said character. From what I can tell, a touch attack could be anything hand related. ex. poke, prod, push, slap, pinch, punch, grope, pluck, probe, feel, fap :D, flick, grab, etc. I think it all depends on how the DM describes the attack. Side note: I would NOT want some monster fap my guy as a touch attack. Can anyone say therapy? |

I'd say that unless the "fabable" member is actually a natural attack venue for that creature, it would still be opposed by AoO. It's only fair, since that's not threatening, it's weird. |
| jaelis09-14-07, 07:33 AM | And I suppose you could use the AoO to sunder... |
