| fluffypanda12-04-05, 11:07 PM | Magic enhancment bonuses to ac on armor or shields does nothing more than raising your ac, so a +2 chain shirt would only add +2 to the chain shirts ac, and not affect max dex or anything like that. using other materials on the other hand, that could affect things like for example max dex and check penalties :) |
| Nom12-04-05, 11:36 PM | Yep, the +2 is implicitly a +2 enhancement bonus to (the chain shirt's) AC bonus. However, since all magic weapons and armour must be masterwork, the ACP is also reduced by one (by virtue of being masterwork). |
| fluffypanda12-04-05, 11:41 PM | Yes, thats true =) |
| Dęгơs12-05-05, 12:47 AM | Each +1 of enhancement bonus also adds 1 to the item's hardness and hit points i guess that im the only one who actually read the chapter in the DMG on magical weapons and armor. no offense, but it really could matter in a sundering situation, and it is a pet peeve of mine. also of note, a weapon cannot damage another weapon or shield in a sunder attempt (or any other situation) unless its own enhancement bonus is at least as high as the other weapon (so no sundering a +5 axe with your +3 sword), regardless of the result of the sunder attempt. |
| Nom12-05-05, 04:57 AM | Actually, that text is no longer in the DMG. See DMG errata pg 2. The text now reads "Each +1 of enhancement bonus adds 2 to a weapon or shield's hardness and +10 to its hit points.", exactly as for DMG pg 217. The first sentence (comparing bonuses) is deleted. |
