| OrionNo911-05-05, 12:32 PM | Just add "Returning" to a throwing axe, The Axe Returns to ya at the start of your next turn to be thrown again. |
| Thorak11-05-05, 01:13 PM | Like OrionNo9 said, physically "no", but magically "yes". |
| Yoho1.511-05-05, 02:34 PM | My boomerang knowledge is a little rusty! Many many years ago I won a science fair award in grade school by making various boomerangs and flight testing them. This is what I remember, the austrailian aboringinals did not use returning boomerangs as weapons, for that they had non-returning throwsticks which where very deadly, the returning variety was used to flush out birds so they could be caught by a net. A boomerang works by a very complicated combination of lift and centrifical force, the practical problems of getting a chunk of wood to return are many. The idea of a boomerang throwing axe sounds impractical, a hit would guarentee a non-return, and the range of a boomerang is limited (it has more to do with the design than with strength of the thrower the ones I made always returned after a certain distance no matter how hard you chucked them). For my science project I made 4 or 5 different shaped boomerangs and got them to return, the numbers of failed boomerangs where too many to remember, the successful ones where very light and well balanced with a well milled leading edge and a pretty blunt trailing edge, not exactly what you would call axe shaped. |
| RavenDrake11-06-05, 02:11 AM | If any of you remember any of the many "boomerange-esque" toys that were produced in the 80's, like the Triple-edge ones, like this: http://www.boomerangpassion.com/plans/img/vmhr73_3.jpg They could be somewhat "Axe-like"... the chances of them returning would be pretty minimal... There are, technically, rules for boomerangs somewhere in one of the splatbooks, probably complete adventurer or Arms and Equipment guide... just use those, call it a "Snap Axe" or something equally catchy, and say it's a boomerang returning axe... |

| GhostStepper11-06-05, 01:32 PM | Whose is really gonna want to catch this thing?! Remember the second Mad Max movie where the kid with the glove has a bladed boomerang? lol The other guy tried to catch it and lost his fingers! Of course we could always ask Simon Belmont how he always get his axes to return to him. ;) |
| Rulebook11-06-05, 03:30 PM | actually the axes never came back. it was always that X shaped boomerang. the axes flew in a high arc. |
| RavenDrake11-07-05, 02:27 AM | That "X Shaped Boomerang" was a Cross. |
| Surreal11-08-05, 02:42 AM | Off topic, but this thread is reminding me of a movie who's name I can't remember for the life of me. It was a fantasy sort of setting, and the main character had this disk with retractable blades that he could throw and it would return to him... heck, even the movie poster was just his hand and the weapon thingy... anyone know what I'm talking about? |

| Surreal11-08-05, 12:52 PM | Krull maybe? Ahaha, that's it. Thanks. |
| Ront Iron-Roar11-08-05, 07:13 PM | That weapon was actually called a "Glaive" no relation to the polearm. I think it was a Dancing Weapon it seemed. |
