My ECL 7 character recently gained a lot of money (20,000gp). Now then, I want to get some item to make him tougher/harder to kill. What good items are there for that purpose, other than amulets of health?

What??? SR 25? DR 5/-? Where are you getting this for 20K?

In fact, you could get an Augment Crystal that grants DR 5/-, but only up to 50hp/day and only if you wear heavy armour. It is good, though(from MIC). Other than that, it really depends on your class and what equipment you already have.

SR 25 I don't know about.

But you can get DR 3/- for 15,000 gp via Adamantine.

He may falsely think that this DR can stack with something else to become DR 5/-. But DR does not stack.

20K @ 7th lvl? damn, that's monty haul if i ever heard it...
or is this at start lvl 7?

either way, you asked, here it is (advice)

-Ironward Diamond (armor crystals in MagItmCmp), cheap, very effective. Flat DR/- rate, refreshes each day
-you could blow it all on a Ring of Invis. can't see you, can't hit you (easilly) plus it's very utilitarian
-anything to amp your movement speed; mobility is typically better than more AC. ie)monster that must move more than 5ft cannot full-attack you. consider giants.
-party invest in Cure Light Wand (750gp). so cheap, so effective
-AC augmentation is cheaper than weapon augmentation. partial to good Animated Heavy Darkwood/Mithral Shield+1, especially if you're using 2-handed weapon or fetching alot of stuff via Item Retrieval, messing w/ doors, etc.
-Heward's Handy Haversack, every PC should get one. how does this prot. you? ever tried to guess what potion you're drawing/drinking in darkness, etc? how do you rummage through 40lbs of gear for that 1 tindertwig easilly?

Thanks for your help. I'll be investing in one of those Ironward Diamonds, and a Ring of Invis, if I can afford it.
