I have a fighter with an 18str. What are some things I can do to bump that. Especially Stackable would be useful. I see items for bumping wisdom and int by up to +6 but nothing of the sort for strength.

Using just the DMG, Gauntlets of Ogre Power (I might have messed up the name) give +2 to STR. Belt of Giant's Strength gives +4 or +6 depending on which you buy. You must have just overlooked them. You can also get an Ioun Stone that gives +2, but both the stone and the previously mentioned items give enchancement bonuses so they won't stack. You're better off with just the gauntlets andor the belt since they're cheaper. That's about all you have at low levels I think.

The belt and the gauntlet are also enhancements, they don't stack.

The best you can get is the +6 belt.

Then you can also buy the Manual of Gainfull Exercise, for a permanent +5 bonus, if you can spend the cash.

BTW, is there a reason that the permanent bonus from the manuals and tomes are Odds?

why maximum +5 and not maximum +6?

why maximum +5 and not maximum +6?
Because you get +5 from stat bonuses over the course of 20 lvs? Assuming you started off with an even numbered str score, this would give you an even number at lv20?:P

You can ask your mage to polymorph you into a creature with high str at lv7. Annis hag or treant are nice choices.:)

Belt of Mighty Prowess +6 Str +6 Con 108,000gp

Of course that is if you can manage to afford that, it all really depends on how well your DM hands you out money. Another good item is the Headband of Perfect Excellence +6 to Str, Dex, and Wis. Now of course the Str bonus from the two items don't stack however, your looking at an increase in alot of things. Initiative, Reflex Save, Will Save, Ranged Attack, and a varity of skill checks, however the Headband is 180,000gp.

Remember that it isn't a "permanent" bonus but an "inherent" bonus
It is important because it cannot stack with other "inherent" bonus (like thos from a wish)
And (as written on the DMG) the maximum "inherent" bonus to a single stat is +5, no matter the source

Belt of Strength +6 (enhancement bonus to strength)
+5 Tome of Gainful Exercise (inherent bonus to strength)
Enlarge Person or similar (+2 Size bonus to strength)
+1 to an attribute every 4 levels that all PCs get.
Righteous Might spell in a ring of spell storing (+4 size bonus to strength I think).

That's all I can come up with off the top of my head.

Depending on your race, some of the paragon classes from Unearthed Arcana add to strength. This adition is NOT an inherent bonus, but treated exactly as the increase due to level increase, so it always works. I don't have my materials at hand, but I believe Human, Half Elf, and Half Orc offer either strength or your choice. The half-orc one is definately meant for a combat character, since it gives strength and has full BABthe human one alos offeres increase in caster level if you have one, but only has the cleric's BAB progression. I don't recall the half-elf one much at all.
