| SkaIsStillCool12-20-05, 11:51 PM | I am confused about pricing magic/psionic items and was wondering how much would Boots of Hustle cost. If you could break down the pricing for me that would be very helpful. |
| masterofmayhem12-21-05, 01:24 AM | As DM, I would not allow this item. It would be extremely abusive, allowing anyone to move and get a full attack, and, worse, allowing some classes, like the scout, loopholes through which their attacks get even better. Honestly, would any character (and not just a melee character) ever not take that item if it was available? |
| BigDumb12-21-05, 04:02 AM | Minimum caster level to create is 5th Power level is 3rd Use-activated or continuous is multiplied by 2000 5 * 3 * 2,000 = 30,000 This would be for boots or some sort of leggings. I would probably allow something like this as a reward for a quest so the entire party could not exploit it more than allowing it to be bought. If a PC really wanted to make it I would be inclined to allow it, but with a daily usage attached, maybe 3 times per day or something. Just thinking about a character with pounce who then gets to move away...Ultra-spring-attack |
| SkaIsStillCool12-21-05, 01:25 PM | Thanks, I appreciate it. |
| masterofmayhem12-21-05, 04:44 PM | Minimum caster level to create is 5th Power level is 3rd Use-activated or continuous is multiplied by 2000 5 * 3 * 2,000 = 30,000 Incorrect. Hustle has a duration of round round. Strictly following the magic item creation formula you are using, there is no way to determine the price, although the closest price would be 120,000 gold. If a continuous item has an effect based on a spell with a duration measured in rounds, multiply the cost by 4. If the duration of the spell is 1 minute/level, multiply the cost by 2, and if the duration is 10 minutes/level, multiply the cost by 1.5. If the spell has a 24-hour duration or greater, divide the cost in half. The magic item creation formulas, however, are meant to be used only as a last resort, and are certainly not meant to be used at all with abusive spells like this. I would likely price this item as an epic magic item, and make its availability very limited. |
| SkaIsStillCool12-21-05, 04:46 PM | That seems like a much more resonable price for such an item. Thank you. |
| BigDumb12-22-05, 01:19 AM | Appologies, I forgot to factor that in. |
| Sluagh12-22-05, 01:25 AM | I'd like to say that I think that the idea of psionics working like magic to enchant items is a bit silly; given the nature of psionics and the nature of magic. It would make sense to have psionic effects on items that may be activated by a psionic individual; basically as an extension of their mind, but a generally available psionic property... not so much. But, maybe that's just me :P |
| masterofmayhem12-22-05, 01:25 AM | That seems like a much more resonable price for such an item. Thank you. Wait . . . You're not mad because the item is no longer extremely easy to get ahold of? . . . . . . Well, then, I must apologize. I fingered you as the munchkiny type that just wanted uber 1337 power at any cost, even your DM's sanity . . . My apologies. :embarrass |
| SkaIsStillCool12-22-05, 04:44 PM | No apologies needed. I was just looking at making some interesting items as rewards for a campaign I'm running, and the 30000 price tag for such a powerful item struck me as odd. |
| masterofmayhem12-22-05, 10:17 PM | Oh. You're a DM. Well, cool, then. :D :ayyyy!: |
