| oxybe09-29-05, 09:00 AM | in the arms and equipment guide, there is an item called "bag of caltrops" (or something in that vein) that lets you take a handful of caltrops each round. now for any steathy character, this could be useful. but now imagine said caltrops with grease... this would make following you much more difficult if you're on foot, moreso if you dodge and weave in small areas like alleys/halls/bridges. other uses would be endless. greasing bars to slip through them, greasing a rusty door hinge so it doesnt make noise, greasing up the local dwarf for hours upon hours of laughter. now my question is this: how much would it cost to buy a "bottle of endless grease", usable in a similar fashion to the "bottle of endless sand" in sandstorm (remove the cap and grease will pour out). i did my math and it would cost approx 8000gp. a bit much in my opinion, concidering that some more commonly useful items cost less (you could get 2 +2stat items for this price, or enchant +2 magic weapon). should the price be lowered? or is 8k a just price for what it does? |
| Jaid09-29-05, 12:15 PM | for the record, a +2 weapon is actually 8,000 gp plus weapon cost +MW cost. but anyways, that's beside the point. i think you are pricing it a little wrong... you are pricing it as a continual effect, right? that would mean you have an indefinite duration greased area, which is not what you want. you want a use activated or command word item. command word will give you five uses per day for 1800 gp (and while you may be able to use more than 5/day, you can always buy more than 1 if needed). that's my advice, at list. |
