| Slad Chaos10-23-07, 02:08 PM | Hello, do a character with the improved critical (scimitar) and disciple of Dispater (8th level) with the iron power have a threat range 9-20 with a scimitar ? Thanks for your future help. |
| ToastedAmphibian10-23-07, 05:36 PM | Not having my book with me, i couldnt tell you if they stack or not. (Im assuming not, as im fairly sure improved critical says taht it dosnt stack with any similar ability) but even if it did stack, the crit range wouldnt be 9-20. In dnd two time two does not equal four. Instead, two times two equals three. A scimitar has a crit range of three. Improved critcal changes that to 6. If you doubled it agian, it would go to 9, not 12. The crit range could be 12-20. Keep in mind they probably DONT stack Improved Critical [General] Choose one type of weapon. Prerequisite Proficient with weapon, base attack bonus +8. Benefit When using the weapon you selected, your threat range is doubled. Special You can gain Improved Critical multiple times. The effects do not stack. Each time you take the feat, it applies to a new type of weapon. This effect doesn’t stack with any other effect that expands the threat range of a weapon. A fighter may select Improved Critical as one of his fighter bonus feats. |

| Azoriel10-24-07, 05:42 PM | But in the description of the iron power, it writed stack with the feat. Yes. However, the text is from a 3.0 source. In 3.0, Improved Critical more-or-less stacked with everything; in 3.5, Improved Critical stacks with next to nothing. By default, given that the 3.5 description of Improved Critical is more recent than the entirety of BoVD, Improved Critical would not stack with Iron Power in any 3.5 game. Your DM is, of course, free to rule as he will; personally, however, I see no reason to give such special benefit to Disciple of Dispater, especially when considering that Disciple of Dispater is already a pretty solid PrC (for a fighting class). |
