bow vs undead [Archive] - Wizards Community

10-17-07, 12:14 AM what are my options if im useing a +2 bow vs undead,or is it time to switch to another weapon that is also a +2

could i wrap cloth around the the end of the arrows and, then soak the cloth with holywater then shoot, would that do any extra damage?

could i soak the cloth with oil and light the arrows on fire then shoot, would that do any extra damage?

the weapon i use is a +2 artifact that changes to any weapon i want it to be.

i would prefer to use my bow but if it wont help then then ill use another weapon

10-17-07, 12:26 AM A bow is just as effective against undead as it is against anything else. Zombies and skeletons have DR that it doesn't break, but that's not the same as saying all undead do. You should have a backup weapon anyway, for emergencies.

By the rules, no, a cloth soaked in holy water will not help. Burning arrows take a lot more coordination than it would be easy for you to do, also, though I've never seen the possibility addressed anywhere specifically. Your DM may rule otherwise, however.

10-17-07, 04:36 AM I'd by different magical (Bane arrows are deadly), and perhaps, nonmagical (Races of the Wild has some new arrow types) arrows to fight against tougher opponents.

If you fight Skeletons, change it into a Sling or accept the -5 damage (which quite likely will be more powerful than the sling anyway).

If you fight Zombies... well, forget it and just shoot them anyway, it's only -5 damage.

Many Undead don't have those sorts of DR, but a lot of them do.

10-17-07, 12:46 PM arms and equipment guide has some alternate damage type arrows. i know for sure there are blunt arrows that do d8 criting on 20x2. i think there is a slashing one too for the zombie but dont quote me on that. i'd look but im too lazy.
