Bracers of Armor and Incorporeal [Archive] - Wizards Community

07-16-07, 08:01 PM Does the armor gain from a set of Bracers of Armor work against things like ghosts? The reason I ask is because the bonus comes from a magical force field and not a piece of metal.

Mage Armor / bracers of armor create Force Effects, as does the Shield spell.

Incorpreal beings are effected by force effects, and thus force effect defensive spells work against them.

I believe this makes them effective against Ethereal creatures too (which work under slightly different rules as I recall, but are definitely vulnerable to force spells)

Ethereal creature cannot attack you at all, until the stay in the ethereal plane.
To attack you the ethereal creature must "shift" to the material plane, becoming a normal creature that attack and can be attacked normally
Some creatures (Ghost) can "partially" enter the material plane; those creatures becomes "incorporeal" and follow the "incorporeal rules"

There's always confustion frome "ethereal" (being on another plane, the ehtereal plane) and "incorporeal" (being in the material plane but without a touchable body)
